The CoViRR team (Fotos Frangoudes, Eirini C. Schiza, Kleanthis C. Neokleous, Constantinos S. Pattichis) has wrote a 12-page book chapter on the technical guidelines for the creation of a Virtual Reality (VR) application using 360° videos with medical content for an undergraduate-level course.

The 4th MEI conference was held virtually this year and was hosted by the University of Nottingham, UK and the University of Malaya, Malaysia, from Monday 12th to Thursday 15th of July 2021

A CoViRR Training event occurred over a 4-day period which presented many topics including VR in healthcare, MR in Medical Education, Technical guidelines, and sessions from other projects. This training event trained stu­dents on clinical skills by the use of Virtual Reality Reusable e-re­sources. By the end of this training participants were able to:

Aimed at Healthcare professionals, clinicians, healthcare and medical tutors, computer scientists, and policy makers this book discusses and debates the contemporary knowledge on the evolution of digital education, learning and the web and its integration and role within modern healthcare education and training.

The CoViRR team has created another VR re-usable Resource for a clinical skills course.  This was published in the 2020 IEEE 20th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference ( MELECON).

Another successful Re-usable learning objective has been completed in the form of a 360-degree video scenario mobile VR application for the understanding of surgical excision of skin lesions.

The CoViRR team created and published a short paper describing the resource in the IEEE International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI'19).

CoViRR held a roundtable “Co-Creating Virtual Reality Reusable Resources for Healthcare and beyond” at the Teaching and Learning Conference of the University of Nottingham, on 3rd of May 2019.

In CoViRR roundtable, the co-creation process for a VR resources discussed by sharing experiences on the development process of such resources. An overview of the HELM team’s exploration of the capture, creation and utilisation of 360 image and video and a CoViRR exploration of Virtual Reality and Augment Reality resources provided.

CoViRR held a workshop  “Using VR in Health-related courses” on the University of Nottingham FELSIG: “Share experiences and new ideas around digital learning approaches on the 10th of January 2019.

University of Nottingham CoVIRR partner informed participants about the latest advancements on VR and how they can be used in Health related courses, disseminating the objectives and outcomes of CoViRR Eramsus+ partnership and kicked off a discussion on the usefulness of VR resources on health related curricula.
